Television director, documentary researcher, photographer & storyteller between Ukraine and the Netherlands
Maryna Donska is a documentary researcher, assistant director, photographer, and storyteller with a director’s background. After fleeing the war in Ukraine with her son, she rebuilt her career within the Dutch documentary field. She is currently developing her own film, Fragments of Home, supported by the Dutch Letterenfonds. Maryna is now based in the Netherlands.
Before turning to documentary, she spent over 15 years directing television programs on Ukraine’s national channels. Her work includes a morning makeover show, a culinary program, and major entertainment formats such as So You Think You Can Dance, X-Factor, and Ukraine’s Got Talent.
Alongside her film work, she explores themes of family, belonging, and resilience through photography. Her portraits of women in moments of transition are characterized by quiet intimacy, natural light, and emotional honesty — capturing stillness and strength in equal measure.
